Identify Your Values

I believe that a big part of understanding yourself and what drives you, is one of the most important services I provide. A huge part of that is identifying your values. Here are 7 questions to help you get started.

Review the past 7 days. What did you go out of your way to do and not do? (Eg. You picked up litter, etc.)

Consider times when you have gotten angry/upset/irritated. What was that about or what was it around?

Consider times when you have been really happy. What was that about, or what was going on?

If you could only take 3 THINGS into a difficult, possibly dangerous situation, what are the 3 things you absolutely must have with you?

What is your favorite animal and why?

  • Then...what's so special about that?
  • And what's so special about that?
  • Try to go 3 or 4 levels deep on this.

What is your favorite activity and why?

  • What's so special about that?
  • And what's so special about that?
  • Try to go 3-4 levels deep on this.

Who do you admire, and what about them do you admire?

  • What's so special about that?
  • And what's so special about that?
  • Try to go 3-4 levels deep on this.

Now review all of your answers. Do you see any themes? Anything really stand out for you? Can you identify 3 values you would claim?
