Clarity & Mindset: How to Clear Your Mind, Steady Your Steps, and Stop Overthinking Everything
I may “seem” like I have it all together, but I’ve had times when I felt like my brain was running ahead of my body? πŸ§ πŸƒπŸ½‍♀️

You?

Like your thoughts were speeding in the fast lane, while the rest of you was doing minimum (or below) in the “slow” lane? It’s that undefined, uneasy space between…blank, and busy.

Yeah…it doesn’t feel good, and it isn’t productive.

Let’s talk about how to clear the mental noise, steady your steps, and get back to that peaceful place where you can think clearly, move forward confidently, and actually enjoy the process of living. Because clarity isn’t about figuring every detail out. It’s about creating enough space to see and know where you really are, where you really want to go, what’s next…and why.

We’ll walk through this in three parts: clear mind, slowed thought traffic, and the shift from overthinking to orchestrating.

Clear Mind, Steady Steps

Here’s a mindset shift for ya: Clarity starts with space.

Not ALL the answers. Not perfect plans. Not productivity hacks. Space. Space to listen and understand. Space for vision, and action.

And yet, when life feels full (or loud), the first thing we stop giving ourselves, is space to think.

Here's what I know to be true: A clear mind is like the uncluttered path before you start walking. Even though you don’t see the whole road ahead...you're confident your path is free of the "stuff" that can slow you down. Because if you’re constantly stepping over clutter, you’re going to lose momentum…or hurt something. (Like my cousin, who just broke her ankle! Yikes!)

If you’ve been feeling mentally muddy, here’s a quick reset:

Pause. Breathe. Name what matters today. Do what’s important for today…that impacts tomorrow.

Not everything. Not forever. Just today.

Clarity doesn’t scream; it whispers. But it’s not to be confused with the voices that whisper in your head, that lead to negativity, chaos, and stuckness.

So, you’ll need to turn down the internal volume of the noise enough to hear it. It’s like…when you hear a smile.

Thought Traffic: How to Slow the Rush and Focus…Forward

If your mind feels like rush-hour traffic, welcome to being human. Thoughts come fast, unfiltered, and often uninvited. And it might seem like every hour, is rush hour.

Here's what I know to be true: You can set up better traffic rules (and boundaries).

Start by noticing what kind of thoughts are zipping through your mind. Are they helpful? Hopeful? Just noisy? Fear-based? Faith-based? Critical?

If you are what you think in your heart…you're best off when you can steer your thought traffic in the right direction, so they steer you in the right direction. It’s important to catch them in time.

Try this traffic-identifying exercise:

  • Red light thoughts: full stop. These are fear, shame, untrue narratives. Do not proceed.
  • Yellow light thoughts: slow down. These might be rooted in caution, but not always truth. Take time to check them.
  • Green light thoughts: proceed. These align with truth, clarity, and your identity. Go forward with them…on purpose.
When you slow the rush, you discover your power to choose what moves forward with you...and what doesn’t.

From Overthinking to Orchestrating

Overthinking is a form of mental control: “If I just think through it enough times, I’ll finally feel safe/confident/inspired/you name it… to act.”
Hmm…

Here’s what I know to be true: Overthinking never guarantees better decisions. It just delays movement. Right? πŸ€”

Let’s exchange overthinking for orchestrating.

Orchestrating is different. It’s intentional. In simple lifestyle terms, orchestrating your life keeps your life areas in time and working together. You’re not trying to balance things out in your life. You’re there to conduct them well. Orchestrating your thoughts is the same: keep them in “time” and working together.

That means you’re not rehearsing and rehearsing (the thoughts) to the point of diminishing returns, or mindless mess ups. Orchestrating lets you be present and take one step, then the next. It’s intentional, like every rehearsal could be THE representation of the bigger picture. Ahhh.

It sounds like:
  • “What’s one thing I do know right now?”
  • “What’s one next step I can take with what I’ve got?”
  • “Where do I need to pause and regroup…not panic?”
You don’t need to manage every moving part of every life moment.

You just need to take both the baton and your part in the rhythm seriously. And let that be enough for today. If you choose wisely…there will be a positive impact…tomorrow. Beautiful life music! 😎

Now…what about peace.

Well…peace isn’t the reward for having it all figured out.

It’s the byproduct of keeping your mind fixed on the right One, and the right things. Isaiah 26:3 (AMP)

"You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].”

And when your mindset is aligned with peace, you’re free to move with clarity. And that clarity is the next space for the next “peace” of music for your life.

My encouragement TO you...take the next step. Steady. Clear. Forward.

My encouragement FOR you...

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself grant you His peace at all times and in every way [that peace and spiritual well-being that comes to those who walk with Him, regardless of life’s circumstances]. The Lord be with you all."
