Ever feel like there’s something blocking you?
Like there's something standing between you and your goals?
No matter how many times you start…you get stopped, and feel defeated.
No matter what you try…that’s not it, and you feel discouraged.
You’ve been “dancing” around it for a while, now. Procrastinating. Avoiding.
Maybe you feel stuck, frustrated, less-than, or even a little confused.
You’ve done the things, put your time in, got the t-shirt or even the scars to prove it. And yet…here you are. Not much farther along than you were a year ago.
What’s your greatest challenge?
What’s really stopping you?
What’s on your path?
The best way to experience your best journey is to keep your path clear. And that’s easier to do when you know…what’s in your way.
When you really take a look at what you're surrounding yourself with...eating, listening to, and focusing on…you might be surprised at how it all affects your life journey and overall well-being.
This could be what you put in your body, what you focus on with your thoughts and beliefs, your personal and professional relationships, your physical environment…and anything else that’s cluttering up your “best-lifestyle” journey and path.
Don’t just ignore it.
It’s time to take the steps that can mean the difference between procrastination, avoidance, overwhelm, stalling out, even quitting…
…and feeling good with momentum, courage, peace, flow, fulfillment…success!
It’s time to get REAL
Consistent forward movement can be next to impossible unless you identify exactly what’s holding you back, standing in your way…possibly preventing your growth and achievement.
It’s a challenge, because we can get stuck when things “aren’t working,” slip into autopilot (not the same as flow 😉) with our everyday life…and we don’t even notice what’s in our way!
We’re blind to it. That means, we don’t know how to remove it, or go around it. We can even stumble over it.
Sometimes when we slip into autopilot, we’re really on a hamster wheel and miss out on things that could truly help us and bring us joy!
How?
- We keep doing the same thing, with little or no results toward our best outcome, which leads to feelings of guilt or even shame.
- We don’t finish what we start because of overwhelm, lack of clarity, or...we don't even start it, which leads to feelings of comparison, unfulfillment and…boredom.
- We simply stay on the hamster wheel so we can say we’re doing "something"...AGAIN, which leads to lack of accomplishment, and that never-ending feeling of…”I’m still...”
I mean…think about it. Being stuck isn't just preventing you from reaching your goals. It's also blocking you from experiencing life at its fullest…getting to where you’re called to go.
If there’s something in YOUR path…something that can be holding you back, standing in your way…possibly preventing your growth and achievement...it’s time to get that figured out AND address it!
Because going through life feeling repeatedly stuck or less-than…
…being on autopilot and hitting a roadblock can mean…
…what to you?
This is a sad place to be. Because whether or not you’re on autopilot…when you’re stuck, procrastinating, or avoiding…you can feel like, life is passing you by. Sad day!
And believe me…I’m speaking from experience!
So, if you’d like a guide to help you experience a better journey, then I do have an exercise you can do right now, to help you do this…better.
Are you ready to step boldly forward? Let’s go! 😎
Step 1: Identify What's Standing in Your Way
First things first. Open your eyes. Be very present. Time to rise (up) and shine a light on those sneaky and annoying obstacles.
Make a list of all the reasons you feel that you haven’t yet achieved your lifestyle goals. Be honest with yourself, and don’t leave anything out, no matter how minor it seems.
This can be in any, or multiple life areas:
- physical
- emotional
- spiritual
- career/business/financial
- relationships
- environmental (space)
- What else?
Seriously. Write down everything for any area of your life!
Maybe you:
- hate getting up early
- don’t like “healthy” foods
- feel like you don’t have willpower or motivation
- feel overwhelmed
- can’t stop giver-only living
- suffer from bright-shiny-object syndrome
- don’t feel good enough or confident enough
- feel alone in your journey
- hoard information
- What else?
It doesn't matter whether it's inside or outside of your control. It’s okay. Don't judge. List it ALL.
Sometimes people (secretly) think their goals are for other people…not for them. Like…seriously. They canNOT see themselves succeeding! Yes...fear of success is a thing.
Let loose, and write it ALL down. Permission granted!
Now, once you’ve got your list, it’s time to connect the dots. Look for common themes.
- Is time the recurring issue?
- Is it a lack of motivation or confidence?
- Is there a person (or two) that keeps showing up at “these” times?
- Do you find yourself longing for more support or accountability?
- Does perfection, or maybe protection show up?
Okay. Now for a really cool part of this step. Let’s take it to another level and highlight these themes and color-code them for quick reference.
This simple act of acknowledging AND organizing your thoughts is a powerful step toward freedom forward.
Step 2: Recognize and Remove the Fillers in Your Life
Let’s talk about the “fillers.” You know...those activities or thoughts that occupy your time and energy, but don’t truly serve you or what you’re called to do.
Where are these showing up in your life? And more importantly, what are they masking? 🤔
- Yet another course, can hide you from ever getting something…done.
- All the Zoom calls and workshops, can look like you’re getting something…done.
- The belief in “just this one more thing” you’re doing, can stifle your ability to actually be…done.
When you identify these areas, and choose to step away from fluff and fillers…you then have the energy and space to choose a more intentional and purpose-driven path.
This insight will help you clear away distractions and focus on what truly matters to you. And get stuff DONE!
Step 3: Shift from When/Then to Now/Action
Now that you’ve acknowledged and organized what might be holding you back, AND removed the fluff and filler distractions…it’s time to switch gears into solution mode.
Instead of waiting for the "perfect" moment…because “now” would be the only one 😁…step away from the When/Then mindset and ask yourself, "What intentional, simple step can I take today for forward movement?"
If procrastination or perfectionism is your default setting, challenge it by taking small, simple but meaningful actions right now.
Start with one. Examples might look like:
- Time-blocking for one week.
- Meal-prepping for lunches for one week.
- Boundary-setting for quiet time for one week.
- Saying “No” to one invitation…the next one.
- Hiring a coach…sooner than later. 😎
- What else?
Progress is progress, no matter how small. And I always say, “Never under-estimate the power of…simple.”
