What's the Price of Your Success? Five Shifts Every Body Needs
Do you ever feel like your body isn’t cooperating with you?
Or is it that you’re not cooperating with your body? 🤔

Maybe all is well in that sense for you…and you just need a little something from a different perspective to freshen things up a bit...to take care of yourself.

Enter a body reset!

When I say, body reset…what comes to mind for you?
  • Does your mind go to the need for a lot of time? Energy? Big changes?
  • Does it go to planning a trip away? Running your business with all the automations on and tapping out?
Either way your mind goes, the direction…it’s not always feasible.

What if you see it simply as an opportunity to stand up for yourself, and be open to a different perspective to bring a little life back into…your life? Awesome!

Whatever comes to mind, I’m here to tell you that a body reset does not have to be big or complicated to be effective. In fact, the simpler it is…and I love me some simple…the more likely you are to enjoy it, and follow through.

It might just be what you need...wherever you are in your success.

Case Study

First, let me say that I could share the big wins here...but it's the little ones that can sometimes have the greatest lasting impacts. That will be my focus for today.

Let me share Irenae’s story with you. She came to me frustrated with trying to be successful and trying to take care of her family. She wanted to explore the Bridge to Wholeness Reset program, because she knew she wasn't taking care of herself either. Irenae couldn’t decide if she wanted to sign up for the Body Reset or the Mind Reset…first.

There’s a fine line there, for sure, because it all depends on where your head is in general, and especially around what you want to work on. That line isn't always a clean one, so we got curious to figure it out.

In the end, she chose the Body Reset to start. Her challenge? To find the time to actually be consistent with something doable. From her initial call, I could tell that…well…she was starting in the wrong place.

She was thinking consistency. What I heard was flexibility.

Someone told her that she could (and needed to) do 20-30 minutes of exercise every day. Fair. And true.

But that felt big to her because of her schedule. She manages a business, is a single mom of two (awesome) little humans, and has "a crazy schedule that can change every day."

For her Body Reset week, we chose the perspective of simplicity by committing to choose one thing every morning. Not a all-out workout. Not 30 minutes. Not even 20.

We reviewed options that she could choose from, and left space for those things that felt like just what she might need in the moment.

Do that one thing, and let that commitment, energy, ability, success...flow into her morning, and flow into doing the next thing right after that. If it turns into a 20-or-30-min routine...great! If not...she did that one thing. Success! 🙌🏽

That meant her Body Reset week was about finding simplicity, creating flexibility, and understanding and using accountability. BOOM!

I loved when her texts to me said, “I did it!” Or, “DONE!” Or even, “Easy button!” I mean…LOL

Does that mean she never had a question or a challenge? Absolutely not. In fact, there was one evening that I got a voice note with something along the lines of, “I’m not sure anything will work tomorrow.”

She didn't offer anything about the situation and it was “after hours” for me. The next morning, my response to her was simply, “What’s working?” That was it. A shift in perspective.

She responded with, “LOL I took a walk around the block and did some deep breathing because it had rained. Felt great!”

That was two things! She put them together to create one great thing! Gotta love it!

Here's why: Irenae didn't just commit to exercise. She didn’t just commit to consistency. She committed to a decision…each morning. Even on a day she thought nothing would work. That shift from "I have to do at least 20 minutes,” to "I'm choosing one thing" is what changed everything for her!

In the past, she would brush something that simple off. Think it wasn't doing anything. Tell herself she didn't have time for even that.

The shift from, “I’m not sure anything will work tomorrow,” to asking herself what her body needed was huge!

The success isn't in the 20 or 30 minutes. It's in the win of the one thing itself…AND how that win carries forward into her day.

Success is in the win of the one thing itself.
Our early conversation really helped with her being okay with checking in with her body, not just her schedule, to choose the one thing.

She kept working. She cared for her kids. She lived life. AND she completed a one-week Body Reset that changed how she viewed her body and her time.

So, before you can begin resetting your body…you might consider resetting your relationship with your body. That in itself…might be the shift.

And on that note…here are…

Five Shifts to Begin Resetting Your Relationship with Your Body Right Now

I'm not going to downplay this, but...these are simple step solutions that can create a huge impact on your results:

  1. Consider what your body needs before you think about the plan.
Trying to find the perfect plan keeps you stuck in overthinking.
Awareness about what your body needs can actually get you moving. Literally.

Sure…your body needs nourishing food.
Yes…it needs water.
Yep…it needs movement.
Absolutely…it needs rest.
And some days it needs you to step away from the screen and just…breathe.

But on the daily…the goal is not to do everything from overwhelm.
The goal is to notice the next right support for what your body needs…in that moment.
That is how you build momentum without the overwhelm. Without perfectionism. Without…failure.

Irenae felt her body needed simple movement and breathing fresh air after the rain...that day. A day she thought nothing would work.

2. Trade punishment for partnership, so you’re working WITH your body.

If your approach to your health is driven by guilt, frustration, or self-criticism…eventually it’s gonna feel heavy. And I’m not talking about your weight.

You maaay be able to rock things for a while. But I don’t believe you’ll feel free…nor will you feel whole.

Now, partnership? That approach to your health sounds different. It looks different. It feels different. The results are different.

Like…in a partnership…you can have a meeting with yourself every day and ask:
How can I support you today? LOL

But seriously...here’s the deal: your body is with you in every role, every meeting, every decision, every responsibility, every season. Every day.

Treating it like an ally changes everything. You’re supporting your body so it supports…you!

Irenae chose to support what her body needed in that moment. It had nothing to do with time. It had to do with…presence.

3. Look for patterns so you know what’s repeated in your life, and what the outcomes are.

First…let’s understand this: a rough day does not define you. Yay!

And neither does one skipped workout, one poor meal, or one restless night. You don’t suddenly become THAT person. You’re not looking at isolated problems.

What matters more…is the pattern.
  • Are you chronically low on rest?
  • Are you typically eating in a rushed, distracted state?
  • Are you mostly sitting for long periods without breaks?
  • Are you almost always carrying stress in your shoulders, neck, jaw, or gut?
  • Are you constantly waiting until the symptoms cause you to crash to respond?
Here’s the thing…patterns can reveal important things that bring awareness to your outcomes. It’s important information.

Once you can see the pattern and understand the connected outcome, you can then choose to also see that…you can begin to change it.
You won’t get that with a quick fix. You won’t get that with an extreme pivot or program.

Opt for looking at the patterns.

Irenae discovered that a pattern of “I’m not sure anything will work (tomorrow),” led to quitting. Sometimes not even trying. Disappointment. Frustration. No change.

All outcomes she no longer wanted. So…she chose change. A different perspective. A reset.

4. Build around your today life, and the lifestyle you’re creating.
(…not just your fantasy schedule)

There’s a big misunderstanding I see a LOT around this. You hear advice like, do the thing “as if” you’re already that person.

Sounds nice…but what about your schedule? Do you have the schedule of THAT person?

You might also hear, “Retreat or step away for your reset, and return to your normal…afterward...refreshed.”

Umm…also sounds nice…but what about making what you learned…work in your normal? Can you really come back and keep doing what you did?

Can I tell you that a lot of high-achieving entrepreneurs fail at health goals because they create plans for a version of life they want…but aren’t actually living…yet? That’s an issue.

When they’re trying to do a reset, and they skip that consideration, the fantasy schedule leads them to build routines for things they want, but don’t have time for. You know…calm mornings, space in the afternoons, and predictable evenings.

Their real life includes clients, meetings, deadlines, children or grandchildren, travel, caregiving, leadership, teams…and unexpected demands.

A body reset works when it meets you where you are. It’s typically a week, and that week has got to consider your current schedule too. Because you’re in it. It’s simply a different perspective to do things differently…WHILE you’re in it.

Some days that might mean:
  • 10 minutes of movement instead of an hour
  • simple prep for simple meals
  • earlier bedtime boundaries instead of late-night scrolling
  • short pauses between meetings instead of waiting for a free day that never comes
One of the important things to remember is that…simple is what works best during a reset week, AND shows you what’s possible for the week after. And the next. And the next. It should lead you to your next step…then…you’ll rock that! LOL

Irenae chose a simple walk and deep breathing in that moment of her crazy schedule. She felt great afterward, which showed her what’s possible with something so simple that…you might pass it off as…not enough. It was enough. AND it helped her be present and more calm for what the rest of that day brought. It worked FOR her.

5. Let your body be part of your success. That’s the point of the Body Reset!

Okay…so this may be the biggest shift of all.

Too many entrepreneurs have learned to treat physical well-being as something they’ll get to after the business (or ministry) grows, after the launch ends, after the kids…need less (LOL), after things settle down.

Maybe they’ll use a band-aid approach, until “after” comes.

But I’ve found that “after” keeps moving. Same for you?

Here’s what I know to be true

A body reset reminds you that your well-being is not separate from the life you're building. It IS the life you’re building.

You use the perspective you gain during a reset as an opportunity to:
  • Support you…
  • Your patience.
  • Your energy.
  • Your confidence.
  • Your presence.
  • Your leadership.
  • Your impact!
In the end…it’s time to let your body actually be part of your success…not the price of it.

Let your body be part of your success…not the price of it.
Irenae found that the reason she kept having dips in her energy and her moods...feeling like she never had time...was not because of all.the.things she was doing for everyone else. It was because of what she wasn’t doing…for herself. That was the price of her success.

Not anymore! She found that guidance toward a simple shift in perspective (in the moment), with the shift in her actions, along with the support and accountability she received during her Body Reset…supported both her and her success.

Irenae’s word for her Body Reset week? “Invaluable!”

In the end, Irenae saw so much power in the shift in perspective for doing things differently (reset) with her body…she’s already set to do her Mind Reset!

Way to rock it, Irenae!! 😎

Maybe it's time to let your body be part of your success!

Imagine what your Bridge to Wholeness Reset could look like. Which plank might you lay first? Body, Mind, or Spirit?
