If I look ahead at my journey through the rest of this year…am I ready? Are all systems “go?”
I’ve already had conversations that tell me…most of us are not. Sure. We have plans. We have the rest of this year's goals to achieve. We may even have a spreadsheet or white board that spells everything out.
And don’t make me pull up my Trello board!
But how are we feeling about it…all?
Let me ask you personally:
Do you feel prepared and safe? Clear and confident? Strong and capable?
Route mapped and GPS connected?
Or maybe you’ve begun asking yourself, “Is this even working?”
“Is this the path I really want to be on…now?
“Is this aligned with who I am and how I want to live…forward?”
Remember…it’s about you BEing in the DOing.
Listen…not a month goes by that I don’t hear from or about a seemingly successful person, who is tired of the imposter lifestyle. It usually looks like one of these scenarios:
- The full calendar, high income, and high visibility…is no-longer sustainable. This is not creating peace, joy, or fulfillment.
- The busyness, low ROI hamster wheel, and imposter visibility…is no longer sustainable. This is not leading to peace, joy, and fulfillment.
- Maybe there’s a combination of the two.
Whichever scenario feels most like you…can you sustain it for another 6 months? Do you want to?
You’ve probably heard the phrase, there’s two sides to every coin. Well, there’s two sides to how you live, and the side nobody sees…can feel…heavy.
Maybe…
- You are productive…but rarely feel settled. Like there’s an underlying unrest you’re not comfortable with.
- You keep meeting goals…but not achieving fulfillment. You might feel puzzled by this, and ready for something…better.
- You say yes to what is needed…but don’t know what you truly want anymore. Things have changed. Maybe you have too. Either way, where you’re going doesn’t feel like it’s the best choice.
- Your habits support performance…but not your wholeness. Inside, you feel tired, stretched, or disconnected from yourself.
- You look successful on the outside…but the roles aren’t comfortable. Things don’t fit. You feel forced into a mold.
Recently someone told me, “I don’t even know who I am anymore.”
That…is a red flag. AND…it’s information you can do something with.
Can I tell you…you were not created just to live in a role and manage responsibilities.
You were created to live with purpose, presence, and peace…healthy and whole. And THAT is intentional.
So, whether or not the first 6 months has given you a full life…if you’re feeling lost in it…maybe it’s time to check under your hood, so to speak…before heading out for the rest of the year. (Or the rest of your life!)
I have a simple tool that can give you some instant clarity about…well…how this is all workin’ for ya, for realz.
Listen…before you step too far into the journey of the second half of this year…consider doing this 5-Point Self-Check. Like…taking your car in before a long trip for a 5-point road trip check.
Doing this 5-Point Self-Check (answering 5 simple questions) will provide feedback that you can choose to take action on for your journey ahead. You’ll know what needs attention, so you feel safe and ready to go. Of course…that’s assuming that you’ll address those areas…now. 🤔
And if you want my feedback on your feedback…I’m happy to do that! I mean…you wouldn’t want your mechanic to just give you a list, would you? 😎
For this 5-Point Self-Check, I’m going to simply ask you to take a look under the hood and being of your lifestyle…and ask yourself some simple questions. Yep. Read them out loud. Then, I want you to answer (yourself) honestly.
This isn’t for self-judgment. This is simply a way to bring awareness to anything that is or can become out of supply, alignment, or…joy.
After completing this 5-Point Self-Check, if you’d like some very simple feedback from me, you can contact me through this link, and put your responses in the content box. Like this example:
Q1 answer – What I’ve learned to do well.
Q2 answer – peaceful is spiritual; heavy is relationships
I’ll read through them and give you one simple next step or insight for each response that you can take action on right away. This will help you be better prepared for the journey ahead, knowing you’ve given attention to those 5 points.
Self-Check Question 1:
- Does my current life reflect who I truly am, or only what I’ve learned to do well?
Self-Check Question 2:
- What areas of my life feel peaceful, and what areas feel heavy?
Self-Check Question 3:
- Are my daily habits supporting the life I want and am called to, or just helping me keep up with the demands I have?
Self-Check Question 4:
- When do I feel most like myself?
Self-Check Question 5:
- What do I continue to do…maybe even out of alignment…because of autopilot, obligation, or fear?
And if you want to be TOTALLY honest and go deeper…here’s a bonus question:
Self-Check Question 6:
- Over the next 6 months, if nothing changed unless I changed it… would I want to keep living this way?
These are deep questions. Maybe you thought I was going to ask you about how much you exercise, or if you eat breakfast. Maybe you thought I was going to check in on your evening routine, so you get great sleep.
Here’s the thing. Everything you do…is connected to these questions. Your choices, habits…outcomes. So taking this look under the hood of your lifestyle gives insight into how you live life every day.
Things don’t have to be terrible for you to give them your attention. You don’t have to be in a critical state to make things better.
You could have trouble making choices, feel unsettled with certain people, wake up unrested, run out of energy mid-day. You could simply not have the mental bandwidth for one more thing.
Time to check under the hood of your lifestyle. Let me know what you discover.
Here's What Alignment Actually Looks Like
- Feeling at peace with your options and decisions more often.
- Having daily habits that support the whole of who you are.
- Having a lifestyle that supports who you are, not just the demands of your roles.
- Feeling more present in your relationships, both personally and professionally.
- Experiencing steady momentum without constantly running on the fumes of pressure.
Here's What I Know to Be True
…about cars and life:
You can be grateful for your car and still know that something needs to be worked on.
You can be grateful for your life and still know something needs to change.
A good trip without good alignment will eventually feel harder.
Success without alignment will eventually feel exhausting.
The car you were given to drive will not require you to neglect yourself to maintain it.
The life you were given to live will not require you to neglect yourself to maintain it.
This…is all part of living well.
You just need to take an honest look, and get the clarity and courage for the next intentional step.
Here's My Encouragement to You
Let this be an invitation for you to pay attention to what your life is telling you. But...you must be present to listen. You have to take an honest look under the hood of your lifestyle.
When you can acknowledge what feels out of alignment or the areas that need care, you can choose to do something about it...without shaming yourself. You can trust that even the small shifts can create meaningful change.
Reflection prompts
- What feels true for me right now?
- What have I outgrown?
- What do I need more of to feel healthy and whole?
- What would bring more JOY into my life every day?
- What is one small change that would help me feel more like myself again?
Now...start walking in that direction.
